Mr McAllister and Mrs Norris accompanied Charlie and Esmi, two of our P7 pupils, as they laid the wreath on behalf of the Governors, Staff and Pupils of Fairview Primary School at the Remembrance Day Service in Ballyclare War Memorial Park. Their tribute reminds us all to cherish and remember the sacrifices made for our freedom.
On Monday 10th November, Mr Kennedy and some Primary 7 pupils led assemblies telling our pupils about Remembrance Day, why it is and remains significant, why we wear a poppy as a symbol of Remembrance and also about some of the men who signed up from Ballyclare and the impact they have had on our town. We were delighted to have representatives from the local Royal British Legion join us for the senior assembly.
Last week, Primary 6 visited Ballyclare’s War Memorial Park, as part of their Forest Schools programme, to commemorate the local men and women who had lost their lives in conflict. They looked at all the beautiful poppies and learnt about how significant they were. They also took time to look at all the names on the memorials and discussed some key questions whilst there.
