2018 /19 PTA EVENTS

MACMILLAN BIG COFFEE MORNING - £1000

September was the Macmillan Big Coffee Morning. In addition to the coffee morning for the adults, there was also the ‘Big Breakfast’ first thing which was a huge fundraising success! We have estimated that there were nearly 200 pupils at the breakfast. Many thanks to the wonderful staff team, led by Mrs Cousley and Mrs McCullough, who had a production line going serving toast, juice and fruit. As soon as the breakfast was over it was a swift swap to the coffee morning with lots of scones and buns on offer! Thank you to all the PTA members and parents who set up the hall and helped on the day by serving or providing buns and cakes. Thanks must also be extended to ASDA, Lidl and Dale Farm for their donations on the day. We are delighted to tell you that this year we have raised over £1000! A terrific effort for such a worthy charity. Thank you!

HALLOWEEN DISCO - £556.64

In October, the PTA held the first of their two annual school discos. The evening was a tremendous success with many of our pupils turning up in costumes to ‘scare’ all their friends and teachers! Many thanks to all the parents who decorated the hall in the afternoon and to those who ‘manned’ the tuck shop or kept an eye in the corridors. Thanks also to the staff who stayed on to enjoy the evening with their pupils.

MOVIE NIGHT - £742.31

In November, the PTA held the first of their two Movie Nights. Following a vote by the pupils in the weeks leading up to the evening, the PTA put on ‘Home Alone’ for nearly 150 pupils! It was a terrific evening and pupils and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed the cinema experience with a movie, water and popcorn. Thanks to all those parents who supported the evening. We look forward to a second evening later in the year. Thanks to all the ladies and Mr McAllister for their efforts on the evening.

ROYAL MAIL - £207.78

Project Santa organised by Caitlin Montgomery and Julie Young, a massive thank you for all your help!

CHRISTMAS FAIR - £2792.64

The PTA held their annual Christmas Fair on Friday 7th December. Despite it being a bit of a miserable evening we had one of the biggest crowds ever seen at the Christmas Fair. With a huge variety of stalls, games and entertainment on show, all the pupils and parents had a most enjoyable and fun filled night. Thank you to all those who came along and supported one of our biggest nights of the year. Thanks must go to the PTA committee and all those parents who gave of their time to organise the event, collect tombola prizes or ‘man’ a stall on the night. Thank you also to Mr McAllister and all the staff who played their part in the evening going so smoothly.

HEALTH & WELLBEING NIGHT - £813.50

In January, the PTA held an evening of Health and Well Being for parents and friends. The evening was a tremendous success and we had a great turnout - even with the snowy conditions. There was a wide variety of stalls, demonstrations and talks. There really was something for everyone! The evening then rounded off with the raffle draw with forty prizes on offer. All money will go towards the purchase of new PE equipment. Many thanks to all those PTA members and staff who assisted on the evening or in the lead up to it. A special word of thanks to Linzi Malcolmson for all her hard work in promoting the evening and also to Heather Cunningham whose idea it was and who just made it all happen! Thanks ladies.

JUDO IN A ONESIE - £2785.49

January rounded off with our ‘Judo in a Onesie Day’ where all the pupils came to school in their onesie (or PJs) and had great fun in the hall with Stephen Beattie. Thank you so much to all our parents for supporting the day. This year we are targeting the purchase of some new PE equipment. We will let you know what we have purchased!
