Rugby Tournament

On Thursday, 11th April our P7 rugby boys participated in the Primary Schools Mini Rugby Festival at Ben Madigan. In our first game we met Mossley P.S. Andrew Purcell displayed excellent leadership skills from the very start as he communicated to his team how to set up their attack. Fairview secured a win in this first match. Next up, Fairview saw Ben Madigan try to break through our defence but Luke Beattie and Alex McAllister were too much of a match for them. Jude McKeever worked alongside Pierce Cunningham and Piers Turkington to use their strength and pace to feed the ball forward, allowing us to secure the win over Ben Madigan. Emotions were high in our last game against Greenisland who stood on equal points with us. The boys fought very hard, displaying superb skill and teamwork. Sadly, Greenisland had a very fast attack who broke through early in the game to give them the lead. Zach Smith was an excellent motivator for Fairview in this match as he encouraged the boys to never give up. Unfortunately, Andrew and Alex both sustained injuries not long before the final whistle which forced them to stop playing. Greenisland finished with the win. Whilst our boys were disappointed from being so close, they look forward to showcasing themselves in another upcoming tournament at Ulster Rugby with the help of their P6 team-mates. Well done boys and good luck!
