P7 River Study

On Thursday, P7 pupils carried out a study of their local river. Pupils were able to identify the main features of the Sixmile river, measure the width and depth and time the speed of flow. A special word of thanks goes to Ballinderry Fisheries and Antrim and Newtownabbey Council for providing a workshop on water pollution and wildlife found in the Sixmile River. The pupils had a really enjoyable time despite the miserable weather.

‘I had a great time on the river walk. I loved looking at the different species of bugs found in the river.’ Lewis Arthur P7FN

‘I really enjoyed getting into the river to measure the depth.’ Jessica Rodgers P7FN
