P7 Athletics Event

Last Tuesday, some of our P7 pupils took part in the Newtownabbey Schools’ Athletics Competition at University of Ulster, Jordanstown. The event featured 13 local schools and included sprinting, jumping, agility and hurdles, as well as various relay races. Our pupils did superbly well. Zara Forsythe and Noah Bell made the sprint final, both coming second. Zara, Noah and Rose McKee made their hurdles final, with Zara claiming another second place. Our team of 6 girls won the sprint relay, the boys came second in their sprint relay. In the mixed agility race, our team of 3 boys and 3 girls claimed another second place. In the field events, Austin Adair claimed second in the speed bounce, 1 bounce off first!

All twelve team members should be delighted with their performances, they represented the school with distinction. We have just heard this week that we came second out of 13 Primary Schools! A tremendous success; well done boys and girls.

‘It was great being part of the team. I really enjoyed running in the relay and trying new things like the speed bounce and hurdles.’
