Great Science Share

On Monday, we had our Great Science Share in school, one of 466 events running around the UK (and Nigeria, India and Brazil), where more than 61,800 pupils shared their scientific questions and investigations! We were delighted to be part of this huge event and had the honour of acting as Northern Ireland’s flagship school! The Great Science Share for Schools’ UK flagship event took place at The University of Manchester’s Whitworth Art Gallery on Tuesday, 18th June. The national campaign, led by The University of Manchester, aims to inspire young people from across the UK and overseas to share their science learning with new audiences.

‘Once again the Great Science Share for Schools has grown and it’s outstanding to see how such a simple concept can spread so wide. We are proud to be able to give children an opportunity where their scientific questions and interests are valued. We are delighted to be partnering with Fairview Primary School, an absolutely outstanding school who continue to lead the way in Primary science across Northern Ireland.’ Dr Lynne Bianchi, Head of SEERIH (Science & Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub).

Our school hall was packed with pupils, parents and visitors, including local politicians, as pupils from P1 to P7 talked about science they have done this year and what they have learnt. You could not help but be impressed by their knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to communicate. We are very proud of all the pupils who took part. Do take a look at our Twitter feed for some photos and comments posted by our visitors.
