Religious Education

In Fairview Primary School we believe Religious Education has a very valuable and important role to play in the development of the whole child. It affects many aspects of education and becomes a natural part of the school day and life.

Fairview Primary provides Christian teaching through Religious Education lessons and through a structured and varied assembly programme. Pupils are given opportunities to develop their ability to think and judge about morality, to relate Christian moral principles to personal and social life, and to identify values and attitudes that influence behaviour. The Core Curriculum is Bible based involving the study of Christianity, but also touching on other main religions. It therefore addresses all pupils regardless of creed or class and provides a significant influence for the development of tolerance and mutual respect, thus contributing to a more harmonious society. Through the topics covered across the year groups pupils have opportunities to develop respect for God, self, respect for others and respect for the environment.

Collective worship/Assembly

Worship in school is statutory and is approached with great care and consideration. It is an opportunity to thank God for his provision, experience a range of worship styles/formats and facilitates a sense of community.

Fairview welcomes visitors to lead the assemblies. These may be local clergy, representatives from the wider community or charity representatives. At present we welcome 15 different organisations during the school year.

Children are involved in the opportunity to worship through prayers, hymns and songs, participation in role play and through times of reflection.

Over the past year we have welcomed many visitors into our assemblies. We have listened to teams from REACH, YFC, Stand By Me, Crown Jesus Ministries, Coaching For Christ, CEF and many more. .

We now have vistors who share God's word within each year group within the year. This includes:

P1 - CEF - Rachel and Philip Agnew

P2 - CEF - Rachel and Philip Agnew

P3 - Michelle Purdy - Ballyclare Presbyterian Church

P4 - CEF - Rachel and Phillip Agnew

P5 - CEF - Rachel and Philip Agnew

P6 - Stand By Me - Jonny Farrell and SUNI - various speakers

P7 - YFC - Ricky Mehaffy

Thank you so much to all the visitors that we have had visiting our school over the past few months. We really appreciate your continued support in enriching our children with the work of God.
