Viking Active Learning Day

Primary Six are currently studying ‘Property Invaders’ in WAU. They have been exploring Life in Vikings Times – who they were, where they came from, what they did and where they travelled to. Last Thursday our P6s travelled to Bangor Heritage Centre. They all went in Viking attire and participated in a range of activities. Pupils enjoyed a visit to ‘The Longhouse’ where they were able to experience firsthand what life would have been like for the Vikings in their dark, wooden houses. The pupils then ‘got their hands dirty’ and made clay brooches, similar to real Viking brooches that had been found on Ballyholme beach. Various artefacts were shown and pupils were given opportunities to ask questions. The day concluded with a visit to the shop and lunch in the sunshine!
