‘Silver' at East-Antrim football tournament

On Wednesday afternoon the boys' football team travelled to Carrickfergus to compete in the annual EastAntrim football tournament. The boys started their day with a 3-0 win against Whitehead PS, Calum Conn and Dylan Turkington (2) with the goals. They followed this up with another 3-0 win v Carrick Model PS, this time Logan McWilliams, Dylan Turkington and Andrew Wilson scoring the goals. Our final group game ended 0-0 against a super Linn PS team. Goalkeeper Tom Fleming made a series of excellent saves to maintain the deadlock as Linn pushed for a winner.

We were drawn against Carnmoney PS in the semi-final. Fairview took the lead through Calum Conn but with only seconds to play, Carnmoney equalised from a perfectly placed corner; the player tapping in at the back post. The game went to penalties where it was Tom Fleming's turn to show his calibre again, making an excellent save to deny Carnmoney while Calum Conn, Calum Adams and Logan McWilliams all scored their penalties. Fairview progressed to the final winning 3-2.

The final was a replay of the group game against Linn PS. This time Fairview played much better and controlled large parts of the game; Calum Adams, Logan McWilliams and Josh Moore all having chances to score the opener. However, it was Linn PS who scored the only goal of the game, their striker nipping between the Fairview defender and 'keeper to poke the ball home.

Well done on reaching the final boys and getting your silver medals.
