School Visit

We were delighted to welcome our local MP Paul Girvan and Permanent Secretary at the Dept. for Education Derek Baker to school last Friday. We were able to showcase our school and highlight the many good things going on. After being welcomed by members of the School Council and Eco Committee, Mr Baker heard our string ensemble and got a tour of the school. Three classrooms were visited and we were able to highlight concerns we have with our current accommodation. Members of our School Council and Eco Committee then delivered a presentation focused on what makes Fairview special, to great acclaim from Mr Baker I

should add!

The visit concluded with an opportunity to impress upon Mr Baker, who, in the absence of Departmental Ministers at Stormont, is the key decision maker at the Dept. for Education, our requirement for capital funding to address the accommodation issues we highlighted during the tour. We are hopeful we have got our message across and Mr Baker is certainly aware of the situation we are faced with. While we continue to provide high quality education and a range of opportunities and experiences for our pupils, upgraded accommodation, such as the replacement of our mobile classrooms, would greatly enhance what we have to offer. We will keep you updated with developments.
