P5 Football Match v The Thompson Primary

Our P5 football team played their first game of the season this week against The Thompson Primary School.  For many of the boys, this was their first time playing in a competitive football game outside of practice.  Thompson played their senior team against our P5 boys and that physical presence of the older boys certainly helped in the early stages of the game.  It was not long, though, before our boys started getting into the game and the match was very even until Thompson sneaked a goal just before half time. Fairview were by far the better team in the second half but an unfortunate own goal gave Thompson a 2-0 lead.  Ollie Wilson continued to be a threat going forward and Robbie Smith was virtually unpassable in defence.  On the rare occasion the ball went past Robbie, Austin Adair's goalkeeping was assured with his distribution from the back setting up a number of attacks.  Cooper Lambe pulled one goal back but a bombardment of the Thompson goal could not produce an equaliser.  The game finished 2-1 to Thompson but our P5 boys should be very proud of their first performance in a Fairview shirt.  A return match will be organised at Fairview before the end of term.  A full team picture can be seen on our Twitter page.
