Netball Successes!

Our netball squad had their first taste of competitive matches last week, playing two matches against both Whitehouse and Whiteabbey Primary School. The competition was high and although we had hoped for a win and unfortunately didn't get it, we did make significant improvements through each game. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Players of the match for Friday were Sophie Corr and Grace McAllister for their determination, drive and attack throughout the game. Ane Healy took player of the match on Tuesday for her accuracy, shooting and movement around the court. Amazing effort girls!

Fantastic, exciting, heart racing, fast paced and exhilarating are just some of the adjectives which could be used to describe Wednesday's netball tournament, hosted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, in association with ‘Everybody Active 2020’. A squad of 17 girls travelled to Antrim Forum to compete in an intense, nail biting, full day tournament. The girls played their hearts out and upped the standard of their game tri-fold. I couldn't be more proud of their adaptability, willingness to listen and make improvements and passion for the game. The A team won every single match, making them the overall winners of the tournament, taking home a lovely trophy and gold medals. The B team won three matches, drew 1 and lost 2 giving them the title of joint 3rd place. Congratulations girls, you should be so proud of your achievements. Although difficult to choose, POM was given to Bella Long on the A team for staying focussed and excellent accuracy with her shooting and Eve Creaney on the B team for her movement around court and super shooting.
