East Antrim Large Schools Football Competition

With our P7 year group orienteering, a group of our P6 boys represented the school at the East Antrim football competition. The competition was held at Carrick Leisure Centre with 7 local schools taking part. Calum Conn was captain for the day and led his team well. The boys started off with a frustrating 0-0 draw, a game Fairview easily could have won but also lost. In the opposition's only attack, Tom Fleming in nets made an outstanding save.

Unfortunately, the pattern from the first game continued all afternoon. Game 2 was 0-0 and game 3 was an incredible 1-0 defeat. Our boys battered the opposition all game but just could not score. As we pushed for a winner, we got caught at the back and Tom had no chance as the striker drilled the ball into the top corner. Our only deserved defeat was game 4 against the eventual winners, Victoria Primary. We were well beaten 3-0. Game 5 was another 0-0 against Templepatrick. We finally scored in game 6 against Whitehead, drawing 1-1. The 8 boys representing the school can be proud of their effort, they just need to clean their shooting boots! The tournament was a good experience for the boys and will give them a taste for what to expect next year.
